Experience overview

Connect with the natural beauty and living traditions of Sitka on a private Alaska shore excursion through Sheet'ka Rainforest Park. Combining an easy nature walk, Tlingit traditions, and a freshly grilled wild Alaska salmon lunch, this immersive experience offers an authentic connection to the people and landscapes of Sheet'ka. Your adventure begins at the Sitka Sound Cruise Terminal, the gateway to one of Alaska's most scenic cruise destinations, where lush temperate rainforest meets the Pacific Ocean. After a short transfer to Sheet'ka Rainforest Park, join your local guide for a leisurely walk beneath towering spruce and hemlock trees while discovering how the rainforest and surrounding waters have sustained the Tlingit people for countless generations. Along the way, meet a local Indigenous cultural ambassador who shares stories of Sitka's history, traditions, and deep connection to the land. Depending on the season, you will also visit with a local Indigenous artist or traditional foods processor for a fascinating demonstration of Native craftsmanship or wild food preservation techniques. These personal encounters provide meaningful insight into the living culture of Southeast Alaska. Your walk concludes at a scenic open-air pavilion overlooking the shoreline, where a hearty lunch of freshly grilled wild Alaska salmon is served with non-alcoholic beverages. As you enjoy one of Alaska's most iconic flavors, take in the peaceful surroundings and reflect on the stories and traditions you've experienced throughout the tour. Small locally made gifts are also available for purchase, offering a wonderful way to support local artisans and take home a meaningful souvenir. With private transportation, expert local guides, authentic cultural experiences, and a delicious salmon lunch, this private Sitka shore excursion is perfect for travelers seeking a deeper appreciation of Alaska's Indigenous heritage, spectacular rainforest, and coastal beauty before returning comfortably to your cruise ship.
