Experience overview
After making your way to Simpson Bay, you and your fellow guests will meet your guide and be fitted for your bicycle before setting out on this scenic and cultural adventure around St. Maarten. Once everyone is ready, you will depart Simpson Bay and ride across the Causeway, spanning the island's largest lagoon and offering beautiful views of the surrounding coastline. Your first stop is the Border Monument, where your guide will share the fascinating history behind the island's unique division between the Dutch and French sides. Learn about the longstanding relationship between the two nations and how this small Caribbean island has successfully maintained its dual identity for centuries. Continue on to Marigot, the charming capital of the French side. Here, you will park your bicycles and make your way up to historic Fort Louis. Originally built in the late 18th century to protect the harbor, the fort now offers spectacular panoramic views of Marigot, the surrounding bay, and neighboring Anguilla. Be sure to have your camera ready for some of the best photo opportunities on the island. After taking in the views, ride through the lively Marigot marketplace, where you can experience the sights, sounds, and atmosphere of everyday island life. Your journey then continues to Bay Nettle, home to several fascinating natural landmarks, including Devil's Hole and Point Bluff. Your guide will explain the area's unique geological features and local legends associated with these dramatic coastal formations. The final stop of your adventure is famous Maho Beach, known worldwide for its close-up views of aircraft arriving at Princess Juliana International Airport. Relax with a refreshing drink, enjoy the beach atmosphere, and watch as planes make their impressive approach overhead. Following your visit to Maho Beach, you will return to Simpson Bay, bringing your cycling adventure to a close with lasting memories of St. Maarten's history, culture, and natural beauty.
