Experience overview
Your enlightening and educational journey begins with a walking tour through this magical city. In St. Mark's Square, you can view St. Mark's Basilica, the elegant Doge's Palace, the Clock Tower, and the Procuratie. Make your way to Campo Santa Maria Formosa, the largest square in Venice, to admire the SS. Giovanni e Paolo church. From there you can also admire the marble facade of the Scuola Grande di San Marco, a building that once home to one of the six large charitable organizations and commonly referred to as the "Great School of Charity." Back at St. Mark's Square you will see the Malibran Theatre and step through the famous Mercerie, a historical commercial hub that today is Venice's main shopping district. Now it is time to discover and explore Venice from the water as you board a gondola for a shared ride through the city. Considered one of the world's most elegant boats, the gondola is one of the symbols of Venice and is full of symbolism itself, right down to the multi-pronged ferro, or prow. The gondola ride is not narrated. Contrary to popular belief, gondoliers do not typically sing. Instead, they are known to row, and most speak only Italian. Relax and enjoy the magical atmosphere as your gondolier takes your through hidden canals, past elegant bank-side palaces and under unique bridges. Sign up for this tour now for a wonderful introduction to the incomparable city of Venice.
